Release note 0.06


Changes in 0.06 (Major release)

  • General
    • Game menu added. You can use settings to change resolution, fullscreen, volumes (master, bgm, sfx), and gameplay settings.
      • Left-hand mode: You can change the position of tools and menu buttons to the left.
      • Auto click mode: Holding down mouse button will automatically click the tank.
      • Cheat mode: Cheat UIs appear on the screen. The timestamp is not recorded. You cannot change this setting in game.
    • In browser
      • The game resolution is set based on the browser size.
      • The screen will always be centered.
      • Losing focus from the game window will pause the game.
      • Exit button on the main menu is changed to Stop button which mutes the game.
    • Volumes are normalised. The default volume settings are 50%, protecting your ears.
    • Font changed to Monogram.
    • Various UI design changed. Gold fits more than grey.
    • Bottom left message field tells directions to play.
  • Game
    • Unlocking increases maximum quantity to drop at once. Unlocking certain number of fish upgrades fish food.
    • Hovering on the button shows the tooltip. Fish tooltip tells you what they eat and drop.
    • You can now hold down the balance button (spacebar) for auto feeding.
    • Objects are moving based on their speed and delta time. Performance drops will affect less to their motion.
  • Fish
    • Visuals are modified to reflect what they eat and drop. Body colour shows what they eat, fins and tail colour show what they drop.
      • Gold (yellow) and emerald (emerald) are more distinguishable from brown (paste) and green (pellet), respectively.
      • Collecting fish have pink as their fins and tail colour.
    • Some fish hesitates to eat something; they eat it only when they are starving.
      • Fish naturally hesitates to eat what they drop, i.e. pellet producing goldfish hesitates to eat pellet.
      • Carnivores hesitate to eat meatball, they prefer it only when they are fries.
    • Bigger fish eats more, smaller fish eats less.
    • Eating more nutritious food makes the fish drop more often.
    • Nutrition are rebalanced to match the price of fish.
      • Fish drops more often when they are fed heavily.
      • Based on their base price, expensive fish gives more nutrition when eaten.
  • Drop
    • Clicking drops on their intersections will no longer collect them at the same time. Each collectible needs a distinct click.
    • Gold and emerald became bigger to make it easier to click.
    • Bomb added.
      • Bombs hitting something creates explosion.
      • Dropping bomb spends 250 shell.
      • Collecting bomb gives 200 shell.
    • Mold added.
      • Molds are not affected by gravity.
      • Eating mold will get fish sick.
      • Collecting mold gives 5 shell.
    • Potion added.
      • Potions are only accessible when there are sick fish.
      • Eating potion will cure the sick fish.
      • Dropping potion spends 200 shell.
  • Decor
    • Added functionality to decors. They decide tools to use, give beneficial effects, and bring about threats.
    • Although they affect overall game behaviour, they are randomly chosen.

  • FX
    • Bubbles are now interactive. They interaction with fish, drops, cursor, and water surface.
    • Explosion added. Explosion kills fish with collision.
  • Cheats
    • You can now use cheats using buttons on screen. (when cheat activated, timestamp is not recorded)
    • You can add shells, unlock tools, reroll fish, feed all fish, make fish grow/drop/breed, make fish sick/cured, kill fish, and toggle debug mode.
    • When in debug mode, fish will show timers (hunger, drop, nutrition), feed types, feed low prio, target direction, and hit box. Bottom left, there is a performance counter which goes down from 60 when in low performance.
  • Known Issues
    • Target approach fx sometimes not showing when running on browser.
    • BGM does not fade out when changing.
    • Velocity correction is not checked based on delta time.
    • Wave relies on delta time too much, fluctuating crazily when in performance drop.

Changes in 0.05

  • Fish unlock mechanism is introduced. The diet of new fish is based on the previously unlocked fish of the fish food.
  • SFX volume is normalised. Still, it is too loud I guess.

Changes in 0.04

  • In-game menu button actually works, not just resetting the game.
  • Lowered warning sound a bit.
